the model is no stranger to gigolo, and we (the royal we) are no strangers to the model. as a supporter of gigolo records, you, our fated reader, should be familiar with our protagonist previous gigolo adventure. but in the words of the late george harrison, >all things must pass< and with this in mind we would like to reintroduce...
the model doesnt just have his own sound, he has in fact attempted to engineer his own genre: dark-techno-baroque. the sound has been crafted through a penchant for aristocratic mannerisms and a passion for high fashion and low fetish. it also happens to pretty succinctly sum up part of his unique personality. set against a backdrop of refined charm, there s an underbelly of something dark and brutal, which is possibly the best way to describe the a-side >in the night<. in many ways this could be seen as a return to form for gigolo, immediately poppy but structured as a classic song with haunting vocals underpinned with a driving techno rhythm. to further consolidate the techno aesthetic look no further then >flex on the b-side and you have a pounding track that could have been played by daft punk in 96 and will probably find a home with a diverse selection of djs today.
the >vampire funk ep< is the first release from the models forthcoming album on gigolo. the concept is in the same vain, but delves deeper into the dark-side of the model. exploring his fetish with the night and creatures that occupy its opulent corridors. like classic transylvanian tales the music from this album will present details that set the mood and composition to create tracks with narrative regardless of lyrics or words. the result being music that moves both bodies and minds and stirs the blood. as pretentious as this sounds the author of this mindless scrap of paper has the fortunate privilege of speaking from experience. as the mind that moves the hands that moves the keyboard is the mind that is being moved by the music as i type and you read. so we are already part way there. the rest will unfold in the coming months.

a record which was originally slated for the fee records catalog, but never made the cut... one life to live was released on the private 4 reel label in 1980, limited to local distribution of only a small handful of copies. its back, but we are sad to say the artist passed away last year before he could see his re release realized.

minimal music has the reputation to create alot of little. alexander pavlenko, a talented producer from ukraine, is here to change all that and even raise the bar while he is at it! you cant deny this young mans skills for production and minimalism, no cheesy lines, no blips and blobs that we all heard a 1000 times allready. >carbon black< is one of those tunes you will instantly remember.. it sounds so crispy, so clean, so... pavlenko.. and it sticks inside your head like chewing um sticks to your hair.. the flip is no different. on >error 99< pavlenko keeps the drive a bit lower but the effectiveness is immense. dark vibes combined with even darker basslines make this one error you cant call the helpdesk for.

perc trax returns with its 30th vinyl release with a split ep showcasing the works of both its newest and most established acts.
first up is ben gibson with 2 tracks that feature on his forthcoming perc trax album >in a realized luck of immanence<. both tracks instantly demonstrate what made jeff mills sign ben to his axis offshoot 6277. bens sound is a dense, atmospheric take on the now-classic uk techno sound of surgeon, regis, ruskin etc and both the rolling bass of >vanished between< and the sharp stabs of >wirklichkeit< prove that he is an artist to watch out for.
on the b-side label boss perc hooks up with the labels canadian connection metalogic to deliver 2 tracks that flit between broken beat and 4/4 rhythms with ease. both tracks feature an attention to detail that both perc and metalogic are known for with endless dubbed out synths and effects keeping the tracks interesting but never getting in the way of the crisp beats. these tracks have already been road tested around the world by perc in recent months and will be a key part of a launch party for this ep in toronto in october.

as the european summer draws to a close, the next rekluse release takes a brief change in direction and offers up something a little lighter to accompany the last of the hazy rays. after the previous electronic madness from simon stokes, mr copy, loco & jam and kiko we are joined for this release by la based artist erphun.

since more than 10 years dennes deen is one of the most important djs in the nightlife of austria. with his special sound he always plays himself into the heart of his audience. besides his many gigs he works also on own releases with success. with his studiopartner he had already some releases on philipp straubs label titanium and through that cooperation dennes got the offer to do a remix for the owner of the label, which was published on deep dishs label yoshitoshi. what dennes deen will do in the future is not sure yet, but we are sure that we will hear a lot of him furthermore. the remix on the flip is by gary beck, a fixture on labels such as edit select, perc trax and soma. this one will go into the cases of hawtin, beyer and the likes in no time!

city wasteland comes as a full cd as well as a split in two 12inches including some tracks that are vinyl-exclusives. sebastian lohse a.k.a. break sl from dresden is still quite young, but you can feel that he already defined his own universe of sounds and proper production skills. the second 12inch (city wasteland pt.2) now starts with the track move! which doesnt carry it s name for nothing - this is true-school techno! next, dirtbomb shows some nice edges and has a kinda dark feeling. hovering samples and a raw, dirty feel on the drums gives the whole track a very subtle blues. on the flip break sl enters deepest territory of detroit-influenced techno with weird dancer. the last track here tff is a vinyl-exclusive which delivers intense and acid-like drum layers ... chicago galore! thanks for purchasing a real copy!

the third instalment of the apres vinyl series explores the indie disco dimensions of future classics 2 year old sunday afternoon session in sydney. when we commissioned gemma smith to produce four artworks for the series this angular and intense piece sat well with the spiky hot chip meets junior boys disco punk funk of melbourne 3 piece clubfeet. it also worked with adelaides sidwho, another promising newcomer whos recent 12inch on cage & aviarys the walls have ears imprint got rave reviews from horse meat disco, mock & toof, tim sweeney and optimo to name a few. millionaire is an early taster of the pop sensibilities of sids forthcoming solo album with future classic. sids also a member of the modular signed live disco act the swiss. chad and nathan took some time out from the future classic hq to turn in a remix of millionaire together with good friend bryan o callaghan who also happens to be head chef at the tilbury where aprÞs is held. bryan quickly became a firm friend of future classic after mudd and aeroplane were booked for sets at apres with bryan seeking us out, immediately impressing us with his unparalleled knowledge of rare disco and groove. last but definitely not least (since it made the a1) came pink frosts remix of evening star by another local sydney band todd sparrow. after a heavy vinyl digging session at redeye records,the stores vinyl buyer scott, handed nathan a cdr and the call was made then and there and we had our third apres release - an intentionally all australian installment!

demas is a producer from middle germany. he produces his own tracks since 2004 and had digital releases and remixes on klangscheiben-records and leporelo. his style is very groovy and its between minimalhouse and minimaltechno, we think. >bohnenherbert ep< as vinyl is a limited edition of 300 pieces. so be fast to get your copy! this is also the first remix-release at klangscheiben-records. we ordered some artists, who are known from previous releases. but we ordered also very well known faces to our label. these artists are milos (telegraph recordings, leporelo), phööptärt (9volt) and sebastian albrecht (klangscheiben). we are very pleased to welcome these artists on our label.

played by anja schneider !!! the first catalogue number from the house of formatik comes from format:b the a-side (hotrod) is a pushing, wooden battering monster in the typical format:b manner the hugo remix gallops through the house arena like a thoroughbred stallion. extremely wonky breaks paired with a post modern house beat makes it the perfect alternative. redux on the b-side is a heavyweight techno layout. sirens, massive baselines and a dark atmosphere that sometimes, but only sometimes, reminds you of old black and white horror films make this track the perfect addition to this first ep.

seth troxlers panic, stop. repeat! ep brings together all facets of the young berlin-via-detroit producers notoriously brilliant/bizarre persona, offering two new tracks (and one house-y remix) of sweaty, ecstatic dance music with a dirty mind and a heart of gold. >panic, stop. repeat!< uses its titular command as a guiding principle, eroding its own immaculate facade through a series of anxious freakouts. the track rolls along like a freight train with aloose screw-designed for precision and speed, but with mechanical parts that constantly jiggle free and whiz off into the stratosphere. as a leathery kick drum and a wickedly simple two-note bassline keep the pace, >panic, stop. repeat!< takes a series of surreal detours involving an ekg machine, a ladys feverish coos, and one particularly old-school sci-fi synth. next up, troxler melds minds with matthew dear on the collaborative >hurt<, a sexy beast of a track featuring bone-dry drum machines, a huge lead tom-tom, and dears terrifyingly deep spoken-word musings. paco osunas remix of >panic, stop. repeat!< rounds out the ep with an exhilarating take on troxlers original, building a subversive house creeper around panics heavy-breathing leading lady.

our favorite frankfurters miguel and arno are back with more frolicking, funky and fired up house. the boys have kept busy since their last release on kindisch, out with a bang, (which for a period was heard every weekend in clubs across europe) remixing for labels such as arearemote, below and murmur. oh, and we almost forgot to mention nurturing their label la peña, whose success can be contributed to their no nonsense attitude to releasing only merit worthy house. welcome back kindischs native sons, as they take you an inebriated four-track voyage of the utmost magnitude of rump-jiggling beats. >caña moral< contains all the things that we have grown to love einzelkind for: warm and crunchy beats and a perfected groove all following the chants of tribal vocals. this one might be a tad more pristine than what they have been known to release on their own label, but it does give proof of their ability to construct tightly woven modern beats

supported by: richi hawtin, hot chip, john digweed, nik fanciull, tono rios, okain... their new ep >shipyard< is piemont at their best... we would not have it another way... magnetic beat-bassline monsters, funky and rigid at the same time. you might call it germanic and it reminds us of dadaism in the 20ies ingermany with it s theme: non-sense makes more sense? the a-side track >shipyard< has all of this, a fusion of old school with blowing horns and massive hi-tech technology. well we know the release is about hamburg harbour...but what the f..ck does it matter. the b1-track >cargo< is as heavy and bulky as you can imagine a track to be with this name... but if you know piemont, you know they make even heavy tracks funky. the b2-track >dockyard< isthe deepest track on the 12 inch and shows that piemont will continue their liking for deeper music which they revealed for the fist time on their recent album >strange world beyond< on mbf.

one year after their >serenity< 12 inch including a soundstream remix, it is high time for some new material by cologne-berlin based duo prosumer & murat tepeli. >u & i< is the result of an extensive jam at prosumers studio. this is a trend resistent deephouse song it brimming with their unmistakable signature sound. it has sounds of dancing horses, an adorable old school and a bassline lary heard would be proud of. once again, prosumer shares vocal duties with elif biçer both telling touching stories about night clubbing and human relations. >the jam< on the flip side is - quite apparently - exactly that - a jam. it is based on the recordings for >u & i<, but also caterss for a more upbeat dancefloor. it is the more techno oriented, instrumental side of the same coin and prosumer & murat tepelis most energetic effort to date

terror danjah isnt a household name, hes not as well known as wiley or dizzee rascal, but hes considered by the grime cognoscenti to be the best grime producer ever. originally part of the nasty crew and then aftershock, terror has released countless 12inchs and remixes as well as several mixtapes.

two youngsters baked the electronic cake for you: shap, now a berliner, but originally from israel, and vitor munhoz from brazil found the right beats and bits for your sweet-techno-tooth - its all about the seduction now.

some sublime athmospheric techno tracks that go somewhere between dubstep, detroit techno and broken beat / garage. roof light did an excellent job on this 4 track ep with tracks that are light but full of emotion and athmosphere. radiance is for sure one of the high lights with its minimal funky bass line and cut up beats and massive strings layered on top. around here is the main track with its 90s two step rhythm and its deep athmospheric sounds and vocals. ltj bukem goes dubstep? not sure who is the producer... but if its a debut its pretty impressive. great release! must have for all the martyn and 2562 fans!

basically its been the cops are coming anthem of sydneys squar parthy underground for ever - but the bang gang 12s boys have brought it to the light!!!

andres is releasing an ep on kalk pets featuring three different versions of his track >ballad<. now if you re associating melancholy and a thousand tears with that title, you ll be taught better by the track itself. for this particular ballad is full of positive energies and sings anything but the blues.
uwe senor coconut schmidt aka atom polishes the >ballad<-track with additional beats and insightful words and turns it into a real disco-pop wingding: >this song is not about sex / it s about music / because music is better than pussy.< the minds are shaking. he has proved his sense for slant humour already before on his album >liedgut<.

autodiscotheque return with a mighty release by one of their favourite maverick producers and djs danny berman. with releases on tirk, untracked, deep freeze and society, danny has made a big impression with his mixed up approach to production and djing. from the wonky house of the hot coins material released on tirk, to the more classically detroit outings under his red rackem moniker, danny is a music lover with an ear for the not so obvious and the left of centre musical territory.on this release which features both his musical personas simultaneously, the idea was to truly represent the difference between the red rackem and hot coins sounds on a single release, and to recreate an intense peak time feeling, but to do it from these two completely different scenes.place for me is detroit inspired heads down, cut up motown soul business, which pays homage to one of dannys favourite producers moodymann, and fits perfectly into that crossover space between slo-mo house and disco. chinese electro on the flip however, references that authentic early 80s new wave electro sound, and is influenced by yellow magic orchestra and recordings from new wave radio shows like belgiums liaison dangereuses

lessizmore continues with a striking fresh release from its new darker serie noire imprint. kane roth is working towards a mix of psycho-reactive minimal techno while tim xavier redefines kama sutra with playful bass lines.
kane s kama sutra is focused on a melodic audion-like gimmick. the track is remarkable by the use of typically pitched down vocals and massive kicks, it viciously hooks the listener.
yearning begins with strange and dark sounds but after three minutes holds the line with simple yet magnificent synth layers. in this track, kane is close to robag wruhme s delicate vision of techno music.
the remix of kama sutra constantly thumbs our nose at. tim xavier arrangements are mapped out with calculated intent, he pushes the track into a brilliant fun and never-ending roller coaster.

rogue state ? logical regression - another meaty slab of rogues own niche influenced dubstep style, this track was influenced by the mighty ltj bukem. rogue is on top form here with depth and emotion created through the synthy intro whilst the tearout drop will get anyone moving. twisted ? infect - hailing from germany and part of the dutty dubs crew, twisted is starting to make real impact on the international scene. the super slick mixdown is what first attracted us to him but it was this phenomenally heavy weight track that made us decide to release twisted. bass face time!

loco dice support! its been a while since itamar sagis last release on be as one, when black gold and its remixes got into the most various record boxes around and became one of last year anthems. now, after a row of releases on soma, ovum and klapklap which consolidated his ever growing profile, itamar is back on his home imprint, with a real summer treat. in perfect sagis style, the a side >selio< is an uplifting and punching slab of techno, with a real fat beat and itamars distinctive trademark chord sound. once again another track to be one of the anthems of 2009. b side >series 1< is instead a paced down and trippy number. very atmospherical in the mood but with a bouncy groove, still carries the artist quality imprint. perfect for the summer ending.
